Sailfish season starts in August In the southern Pacific off Golfito, Puerto Jimenez and Zancudo. But August also sees tremendous downpours, so things don't usually get going until October. This area is remote, but some nice places have opened up down in the past couple of years. Anglers visit this area far less often than other parts of the country, and the schools run bigger and more frequently than elsewhere. January through March is the best time to go. Sansa and Nature Air fly into Golfito.
